After 10 years of writing, recording and touring together, KZN's Afro-folk guitar virtuosos Nibs van der Spuy and Guy Buttery recently recorded and released their first ever collaborative album, In the Shade of the Wild Fig.
They spent September trekking through Europe and the UK. The 17-date tour through the Netherlands, France, Italy and the UK saw the two performing songs from their own albums, along with those drawn off In The Shade of the Wild Fig, plus new songs written ahead of the tour. A highlight was supporting American artist Kelly Joe Phelps on two dates in Paris. The month of October see's van der Spuy and Buttery launching In The Shade of Wild Fig in and around Cape Town. The album has been picked up and is scheduled for an international release later in the year.
