Die Antwoord's Yo-Landi Vi$$er has recently been included as one of the 'Did you know' facts that feature on the inside of the Chappies-Bubblegum wrappers, Die Burger reported today.
"Chappies contacted us after they saw a photo of the Chappies tattoo on my arm," Vi$$er told Die Burger speaking from Atlanta in the States where they performed this past weekend. "And then they asked me if they could send me a gift. I was like, 'Of course, please!' Then they sent me a package with a moerse pink Chappie wrapped in a Chappies wrapper, and inside the wrapper was me on the 'Did you know' list." The Chappie-fact reads: "Did you know? 334 Yo-Landi Vi$$er has fellow pop culture icon Chappie the chipmunk tattooed on her arm."
"It was very cool. I'm crazy about Chappies – the logo is such an original South African style. It makes me reminisce about my childhood years, and it gives me such a warm feeling in my chest."
Die Antwoord made waves last week with their new video, "Fatty Boom Boom", in which a transvestite-looking Lady Gaga visits South Africa in her famous meat dress and gets hijacked by moguls wearing Pussy Riot balaclavas. In the video, Vi$$er wears a dress made of Chappie wrappers. Since last week Wednesday the video has been viewed more than 2,5 million times.
"The video was also shown on American TV the other day," said Vi$$er. "Lady Gaga's fans are also mad because they think we named the song 'Fatty Boom Boom' because of Gaga's alleged weight gain recently. But that's just a coincidence because we released the song in February, when she was still fit."
