Aussie rockers to celebrate their 40th anniversary with world tour

AC/DC have revealed the dates and venues for the first leg of their world tour which starts in the US in Pennsylvania on August 2nd and ends October 25th in Africa.

The hugely anticipated shows are the Australian rockers’ first world tour in four years since the 2010 Black Ice Tour.

The new world tour, which marks the band’s 40th anniversary, starts with US and Canadian Arena shows, including two nights at New York’s iconic Madison Square Garden venue, followed by a string of UK stadium gigs in September and concludes with two dates in Africa. On October 22nd the band will perform at the Independence Stadium in Windhoek, Namibia and on October 25th at the Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi, Kenya. No South African dates have been confirmed.

In February frontman Brian Johnson hinted at the tour when he told US radio station 98.7 the Gater’s Andy Preston that the band would be going into studio in May. Johnson also told the station that the band was planning a special tour to celebrate their 40th anniversary. “It’s been 40 years of the band’s existence,” he said. “So I think we’re gonna try to do 40 gigs, 40 shows, to thank the fans for their undying loyalty. I mean, honestly, our fans are just the best in the world, and we appreciate every one of them.”
