The upcoming Rolling Stone Original Voices festival in Cape Town gives Mother City music lovers the chance to experience Cat Power, Willy Mason and Sarah Blasko before the trio head inland to play Oppikoppi.

Presented by Hilltop Live and taking place at the (warmer, less dusty) Baxter Concert Hall on 6 August, the festival has all the makings of a gig-of-the-year with its line-up of top-drawer musicians, all of whom defy easy categorisation.

Willy Mason makes his Cape Town debut with his Rolling Stone Original Voices appearance. Mason’s singles, including “Oxygen”, “Save Myself”, “We Can Be Strong” ft KT Tunstall’ and “Talk Me Down”, have established him as the future of Blues and Country.

Australian native, anti-Folk solo artist, Sarah Blasko has won two ARIAs (Best Female and Best Pop Album) and critical acclaim off the back of four studio albums, including most recent I Awake.

Finally, Cat Power will make her long-awaited South African debut at Rolling Stone Original Voices. With her wide-ranging mix of punk, folk, blues and soul, Cat Power is a formidable artist who brings a raw power to her material, most recently on the acclaimed album “Sun”. Tickets for Rolling Stone Original Voices are R300 person and are available exclusively on www.computicket.com
