A statement released through Buttabing Entertainment – Slikour's label – has denied that the song "Blacks R Fools" has in fact been banned by the SABC.

"First and foremost we would like to clear up all the misinformation proliferated in the public domain, due to biased and untruthful sensationalist reporting, by The Sunday World newspaper, " Buttabing said.

"On Sunday April 29th the aforementioned publication released a story with the headline, 'Blacks Are Fools – Banned.' SW sought to create public condemnation of Slikour's single by falsely reporting that the public broadcaster had banned the video and prohibited the playing of the record on its radio stations citing that the song was deemed to "fan racial flames" and "promote hate speech." The single has not yet been formally released to radio stations for playlisting and all radio stations who have played the song have either requested it directly or downloaded it from Slikour's hulkshare page.

"We have since referred this matter to the press ombudsman to request that the SW retract this story and make reasonable effort to ensure that their readers get a complete understanding of the full scope of the matter. They have 10 days to respond."
