Goodbye Ian Curtis

“Goodbye Ian Curtis” is the first single off Cape Town based foursome Bicycle Thief’s long awaited debut EP, titled Ammunition. “Sunshine evades me…” vocalist Timothy Lester sings with tender intentions, but this is probably where the comparisons stop with Ian Curtis’ life - he who struggled with personal demons up until his death at the age of twenty four. There is a general positive overtone to the music, which negates the rather weighty subject matter and could easily be mistaken for a song from a Gossip Girl or O.C. soundtrack and not homage to one of rock’s greatest icons. Comparable to early Kings Of Leon.
