My Beter Helfte’s “Seëvier ” has all the Ride the Lighting chops, riffs, and breakdowns, and eventually even gets a trashy/punk vibe going. But, and this is a huge J-Lo “but”, the lyrics and especially the deliverance of the lyrics are adrift. What can be deciphered is that the narrator is “geïrriteerd” (irritated). The song’s arrangement is built around the riff and the drums, which leaves the vocal arrangement feeling like an after-thought, complete with clichéd accent. A band like this has the musical skills to break boundaries, all they need now are the lyrics, vocal delivery and the right lyrical attitude.
