Andrea Iacopini, a.k.a. ClassyMenace, has always had impeccable taste. Armed with a London audio degree and a worldliness stemming from his Italian heritage, he started making waves on the S.A. remix scene back in 2011 with a trio of choice Goldfish remixes – “Crunchy Joe”, “Humbug” and “Woman’s A Devil” – that turned him into the go-to guy for artists looking to add a slick (but never rote) club-rocking beat to their tracks. But ClassyMenace never intended to confine his creativity only to make the work of others pop hard. Starting with “Movie Starr” and “Summer Daze”, both featuring Blee, he began executing a radio and club takeover that proved he was as capable of writing original material as anyone else on the EDM scene. Thankfully, his debut full-length record delivers on the promise of those early tracks, with ClassyMenace showing a diverse and malleable hand on tracks here (especially those with vocalist Paul Morrissey) that are smack-bang ready for the dance charts and floor. Still, there’s a sincere, thoughtful quality to the record. It! is easily visible in an overcrowded genre.
