On Monday Cassette front man and radio personality Jon Savage released the first trailer for his upcoming and unfinished comedy film, Stone Cold Jane Austen.
The synopsis of the This Is Spinal Tap-styled mockumentary seems to follow the fictitious Bellville rock band Stone Cold Jane Austen, [played by Savage and comedian Rob van Vuuren], on their journey to get their long overdue recognition after Fokofpolisiekar stole all their songs, sound and looks. The trailer teases with hilarious interview segments with some of South Africa’s music personalities like Randall Abrahams, Rolling Stone SA’s own music editor Diane Coetzer, journalist Evan Milton, Arno Carstens, Fokofpolisiekar, Chris Chameleon, aKING, Jack Parow, Blk Jks and The Parlotones.
Savage released the trailer together with a link to the film’s Indiegogo crowd-funding page where he aims to raise funds to finish the film.
“For three long years, I’ve been secretly making this comedy about the South African music industry,” said Savage. “But there are some really important (and hilarious) scenes that we just can’t afford to shoot, including one of the funniest car chases you will ever see. Oh and the scene with the stripper. Oh and the fight scene.”
There are some cool perks if you choose to help fund the film – hop on over to Stone Cold Jane Austen‘s Indiegogo page and help them finish this awesome project.
