Two years since the release of their sophomore album, JHB/PTA-based band, Wrestlerish, released a video for their new single “Battle Ground”.
This is the first single from their upcoming album Greater Goods And Lesser Evils, set for release at the end of this month. “The song is a continuation of some of the themes from the first album. It’s about being pushed to your limits by someone you love or consider a big part of your life. The theme is basically ‘letting go’,” frontman Werner Olckers told Rolling Stone.
“Battle Ground” was recorded in Johannesburg earlier this year when the band went into studio for the recording of their third album. It was written by Olckers and initially the band had a few versions of the song. They knew the track had single potential and contains “something special.”
This is also the band’s first release as the ‘new’ Wrestlerish. According to the band they have “completely done away with their previous folk/acoustic feel and have expanded their sound sonically with a more rhythmic feel to it.” The song also features the addition of Candice Armitage for the first time on vocals.
