Track will appear on guitarist’s 2014 album ‘Corazón’

Santana unleashes some fierce riffs in the brand-new song “La Flaca,” which features vocal work from Colombian musician Juanes. Available to stream now, you’ll be able to download the cut on November 25th.

The track will appear on Corazón, a new record of collaborations with some of the biggest names in Latin music. It’s set for release in early 2014 and is the follow-up to 2012’s Shape Shifter. Santana is also set for a special concert event on December 14th, “Corazón, Live from Mexico: Live It to Believe It.” Taking place in Santana’s hometown of Autlan, a city south of Guadalajara, the show will feature a slew of guests, many of whom will also appear on the record, including Gloria Estefan, Miguel, Ziggy Marley, Romeo Santos, Chocquibtown, Lila Downs and more.

Along with the concert event, Santana will close out 2013 on a high note as the recipient of one of this year’s Kennedy Center Honors. The ceremony is set to take place at the Kennedy Center on December 8th, though it will be aired on CBS on December 29th.

“I guess people understand that Santana is not just a Mexican guitar player – I bring a collective-consciousness awareness agenda with me,” Santana said at the time, perhaps in a nod to the Kennedy Center’s previous lack of Latino honorees (opera singer Martina Arroyo, who is part Puerto Rican, will also receive America’s most prestigious cultural award this year). “I grew up with the generation of Woodstock and Bob Marley, ‘One Love,’ and ‘Imagine,’ John Lennon. I am one of them, and we don’t do what we do to be commercial or to be popular or to be cute. It’s not entertainment or show business for us. For us, it’s a calling.”

Along with Corazón, Santana is expected to publish a memoir in 2014, which will “help readers discover the sanctity, grace and divinity in themselves.” Though still untitled, the book will reportedly feature stories about music greats like Miles Davis, B.B. King, Eric Clapton, Herbie Hancock and Harry Belafonte.
