Famous in the ’80s for cracked ballads like “Johnny Calls The Chemist”, the band suffered madness and misadventure until recently reuniting when vocalist and co-founder Nielen ‘Mirror’ Marais was discovered sleeping under a hedge in Wynberg.
However, soon after starting to record new material last year, Allan Faull – Marais’ cousin and The Mirror’s lead guitarist – died of a heart attack in studio. Against all odds, and to keep Faull’s spirit alive, Falling Mirror have again regrouped with Nielen on vocals; Harvey Cohen on bass; Pat and Kai Humphreys on keyboard and drums respectively; and Richard and Jonathan Tait on rhythm guitar and lead guitars.
In an audio interview below, the group talks about inspiration, going forward and what ‘The Mirror’ is all about. Listen out for an exclusive in-studio preview of a new track.
