Rapper and troubadour seek out the unfamiliar and find hope in a new video shot in the backwaters of the Western Cape

One of ten videos chosen to be financed by kykNET Musiek’s MVP initiative, Jack Parow and Valiant Swart’s “Tema van jou Lied” (“Theme of your Song”), which premiered last night on DSTV Channel 146 between 20h00 and 21h00, documents “unusual and inspiring people from around the Western Cape who exhibit hope in the face of adversity”. Little Big Productions found a vast range of characters ranging from a female Elvis impersonator to a paraplegic skydiver.

Swart’s laid back front-stoep troubadour guitar verses and Parow’s earnest on-the-beat wordplay are an unexpected combination that perfectly underscores the variety of “unorthodox South African stories” and surprising out-of-the-way settings depicted in the video.

“Tema van jou Lied” is from Jack Parow’s new double album, Nag van die Lang Pette, released in February this year.

Hot on the heels of his Nag van die Lang Pette album launch, Parow will be hitting the road again for the Tyd vir Suip Toer. At the end of May, Parow embarks on the Spot the Tourist Tour to The Netherlands and Belgium.
